Remembering Rozby Stan TaylorMy wife and I had the good fortune to visit with Jack and Roz, in 1989. They did not know us from Adam, but they welcomed us into their home like we were VIP's. My wife, has no interest at all in comic books and its history, but, while I babbled endlessly with Jack about concepts and characters that I know he had been babbled to a thousand times before, Roz took my wife on a tour of the house, showed her family pictures, and talked about Jewish families (my wife is Jewish)and the role of the Grandmother (my wifes' had died not to long before) and generally went out of her way to make the visit as enjoyable as possible for her. Jack and I could hear them in the kitchen laughing, and when we joined them we found out that they were talking about stories that had been passed down to both of their families about the "Old Country". After the obligatory photographs, I realized that it was time for us to go. When we left, my wife and I thanked them both for their patience and generosity, Roz, came over to my wife and gave her a small hug, and thanked her for visiting. This is how I will remember Roz Kirby. I did get a chance to meet Roz and Jack one more time, at the 1990 San Diego Con, Roz, as always was in the background keeping a close eye on Jack, so that he didn't over-extend himself, with Roz was, I believe Jeremy Kirby, I showed Roz the pictures that we had taken, and to my surprise, she remembered my wife (not me)and asked how she was doing. A very classy and special lady. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Kirby family, may you take comfort in knowing she is together again with Jack.
